Welcome to paradise! The Big Island is Big! Big on space, on beaches, volcanoes, waterfalls, Hawaiian history, Kona coffee, ranching, world-class resorts, golf courses, diving and much more. What makes the Big Island so special is its people and its Aloha spirit.
The Big Island has been called both the Orchid Island for its beautiful blooms and the Volcano Island, Pele the fire goddess makes her home here. It was the first of the Hawaiian Islands to be inhabited by the Polynesian settlers, yet it is geologically the youngest of the Hawaiian Islands. The Big Island is a mini continent with a wide variety of eco-climates which include parched deserts, tropical white and black sand beaches, snow covered mountains and lush rain forests. Historically, the big Island is rich in Hawaiian history, loaded with religious upheavels, reconstructed ancient ‘heiaus”, vintage missionary homes and churches and a royal summer palace.
Kailua Kona located on the west coast of the island was chosen by the Hawaiian ‘Alii’ (royalty) for their summer playground. The sunny Kona-Kohala Coast has one of the most consistent climates in the world with temperatures ranging in the 70’s and 80’s. Kona is also renowned for its world famous Kona Coffee grown on the fertile slops of Hualalai mountain. The beauty of Kona and the fruits it has to offer have finally been discovered, yet it still has managed to keep its magical charm and spirit. It certainly is the perfect place to work and raise a family, build that dream home, enjoy golf and ocean sports or just retire to a life of active leisure in the tropical sun.
